The Advantage of Using RC Helicopter in Your Daily Field Work

There are certain jobs that you will find very risky for any person to do. They require a lot of courage and even when one is able to overcome their fear there is the issue of health reasons that will not work for them. Take for instance when you work in a geographical site that has volcanic eruptions. You will not want to go near such places as you stand a chance of inhaling the fumes which can be dangerous to your health. This is where the Remote control helicopter would come in handy. You do not need to risk your life over a job but you can still make good use of this technology to complete your work satisfactorily.

With volcanic activity, you may not be sure when the eruptions will take place. This means that you have to take close pictures and follow ups very frequently. With the Remote control helicopter you can use them to fly close to where you think the activity is more and take pictures of the area. This is an ideal way of capturing the activity as it does not pose a risk to you in any way. With the high quality cameras mounted you can take quality pictures for analysis at the office.

Everyone wants to be at a safe distance from potential risks even when there is no real danger to your life. When you invest in the RC helicopter you can be sure that you have taken care of your life as you will not be risking your life over your job. You will also not be putting yourself in danger of losing your source of livelihood as you can take perfect videos of the area you want to capture for analysis later in the office.

Sometimes you may miss out on some important details while you are at the field. You will need a second and third look at the area before you can click on the real problem or issue that is about to arise. This is why the RC helicopter is here; they give you a chance to review your data and videos as many times as you would want. In addition you can have several of your colleagues review the videos taken to make sure you are getting the right analysis of the area under review. This is the advantage of investing in these helicopters.

The RC helicopter comes in different designs geared for different environments. If the area you are working on is windy then you will have the right kind of helicopter to use in such an area. You will not lack what to use even if you are in a closed area as all these details are gathered and an appropriate helicopter and camera provided for it. The advantage of using this technology is that you are discreet in what you are doing as controlling the helicopter is done from one area and can even be done using your mobile phone. As long as you understand the environment in which you are working in terms of the weather conditions you will always come out with good quality videos and photography.

The Ever Evolving RC Helicopter

The fun that can be had with remote control helicopters should never be underestimated. If you think RC helicopters are a toy for kids only then you would be wrong. Adults all over the world are having some serious fun with these model helicopters.

It all began back in 1968 when Dr. Dieter Schlute, who is known as the "father of the RC helicopter", took his first flight of the first fully functional remote controlled helicopter. It was called the Bell "Huey Cobra". Since then they have seriously evolved as different power sources were used and better batteries were used. Now you can get tiny RC helicopters which can comfortably site in the palm on your hand.

Today they are more popular than ever and the top brands include SYMA, Double Horse, Skytech, and SH (San Huan) and use the technology of a gyroscope. A gyroscope is a devise for measuring and maintaining orientation which is based on the principles of angular momentum. This makes controlling them far easier than ever before.

As the size of these toys has decreased over the years so have the price. You can now buy one of the top toy models for less than £20. Some can be controlled by smart phones such as the iphones and some even have miniature cameras which can record as the helicopter is in flight.

Getting hold of these great little toys is easier than ever. Most hobby and toy shops will stock the top selling models and you can even pimp up your own. You can buy parts and assemble them yourself making a completely bespoke model. As the popularity of them grew so have the online communities. You will easily find RC helicopter clubs and forums online dedicated to these great toys. You can join clubs and meet up with like minded individuals in your area on arranged meetings.

Recently San Huan brought out some new models, the 6033, 6021i and the 6041 which is actually a fly ball, so not quite a helicopter but uses the same technology to fly. They also brought out the 6030 C7 which is the spy helicopter which comes with a 1.3 mega- pixel camera and micro card to store the filming. SYMA are also keeping on top of things by bringing out the S109C spy helicopter, S301G and the S800G. Parts are easy to come by so if you manage to brake a rota you can easily buy a new one and attach it yourself.

Getting to grips with controlling these toys is pretty easy. If I can fly one anyone can! But if you're a newbie to these toys, it's worth starting off slow and practicing just controlling the copter up and down so you land it safely. As your confidence grows you can do much trickier man-oeuvres. Creating obstacle courses is great fun. You can use household items such as books to make different height landing pads, cardboard to make tunnels, in fact your imagination is your only limit.

Pedal Cars - A Unique Gift Idea for Children

Sometimes it can be extremely stressful when trying to think of a perfect gift for our children, nieces/nephews, cousins, and grandchildren when it comes to their birthdays or Christmas. We try so hard to be the one that gets that unique gift that will be the talk of the event. We want to get that one special toy that our child actually likes and wants to play with.

Well, from my experience I believe pedal cars are the latest in unique gift ideas for children. In a world where technology is everything, pedal powered ride-on toys are a refreshing blast from the past that can easily go head to head with some of today's hottest tech toys for children. They are just good ol' fashion fun that promote healthier lifestyles and great imaginative play. They let your child feel like a "grownup" while they put out imaginary fires in their shiny red fire truck, or catch bad guys in their old school police car.

Instead of our toddlers and preschoolers growing up too fast playing with a cell phone that in most cases seem to have more gadgets than our real life adult phones, ride-ons offer so much more. Whether it be a pedal car, plane, or train any one of these is a great gift idea for those who are tired of giving the typical primary colored techy kid toy. When my toddler received an InSTEP pedal fire truck for Christmas, his eyes lit up with excitement. It was a gift so different from the ones he had already received that Christmas. Watching him ride around the house in his fire truck was just as much fun for me as it was for him, and to this day it is still his favorite toy.

For those of you struggling for gift ideas for little ones, I suggest you look to the web for these one of a kind toys. There is such a great selection of cars, trains, trucks, and planes that it can be challenging to find a favorite! They are also fairly priced for the high quality construction. Most of the pedal cars are made from solid steel, and the more modern models are made from plastic. Basically, there is something for everyone. I think sometimes it is more fun for the adults who get to choose the style of pedal car than it is for the child that actually gets the gift!

Carnegie Collectibles Triceratops Dinosaur Model Reviewed

Review of Triceratops Dinosaur Model (Safari Ltd)

Dinosaur model collectors have been rather spoilt for choice when it comes to acquiring replicas of the horned dinosaur known as Triceratops, most model manufacturers have included at least one within their ranges. The Triceratops in the Carnegie Collectibles range, manufactured by Safari Ltd is one of the most colourful. This Triceratops dinosaur model is depicted charging and its bright orange and yellow frill markings make this particular Triceratops model very striking indeed.

One of Two Versions of Triceratops Available

The Carnegie Collectibles Triceratops is actually one of two models of this dinosaur within the Carnegie range marketed by Safari Ltd. It was introduced some years ago as a replacement for an older, less dramatically coloured Triceratops model that is due to be phased out. Both of these dinosaur models are in 1:45 scale, although the more colourful interpretation of this Late Cretaceous herbivore is slightly longer, measuring a fraction under nineteen centimetres in length.

A Colourful Dinosaur Model

As well as its vivid pose, depicting this horned dinosaur charging with its huge mouth open as if it is bellowing at some imaginary predator, this model is notable for its colouration. The top of the bony frill that adorns the back of this huge dinosaur's skull is painted with splashes of bright orange and yellow. The flanks also have bright orange and red patches. Palaeontologists believe that visual signals were very important to these dinosaurs. The bright colours on this Triceratops would have made a stunning visual display, perhaps enough to frighten away the most determined Tyrannosaurus rex that saw this seven tonne, plant-eater as potential prey. Safari Ltd are to be congratulated for making one of the first really bright and colourful Triceratops models, most others at the time depicted these horned dinosaurs as animals that were many sandy brown or elephant grey.

Getting the Number of Toes on a Triceratops Correct

Interestingly, this Triceratops model has the correct number of digits depicted on its legs. The front legs had five digits, whereas the back legs only had four. This detail is often overlooked in other replicas but all the models in the Carnegie scale model dinosaur collectibles range are approved by palaeontologists at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (Pittsburgh, USA), so the replicas do reflect the very latest scientific thinking.

All in all, this an attractive Triceratops dinosaur model, one that will continue to be popular member of the Carnegie range. It will continue to delight dinosaur model collectors for many years to come.

Finding The Right Remote Control Helicopter

Searching for the right micro helicopter can be a somewhat daunting task. These days it seems like you see them everywhere, from shopping malls, to big box stores, to sporting goods stores, toy stores and of course your local hobby shop.

Everyone seems to want to cash in on this latest craze made possible by the miniaturization of the electronics, the advance in battery technology and the desire to be able to fly something for a reasonable price.

You have to ask yourself with so many of them around now there has to be some that are better than others, there must be a quality difference and how do you determine which one is the right one to buy?

I'm sure you have walked through a shopping mall only to come across a kiosk where someone is flying one of those babies, and oh how very cool it looks! They make it look so easy!" I'm sure I can fly one of those, it shouldn't take much skill or knowledge, I mean, look how easy it is!"

So you shell out the $40 - $50 to buy one, you get it home and with great anticipation you get it out of the box, get the built in battery charged up and off you go! Ok, so maybe it isn't THAT easy, but I can still do this, Oh no! Look out for that bookshelf! Well, you didn't miss that bookshelf, or table or cabinet, or whatever you may have in your house that got in the way.

Now you survey the damage and find that the flybar and rotor blades are broken, but not to worry, there's a hobby shop nearby and you can run down there, I'm sure they will have the parts you need. You get to the hobby shop and find out that the helicopter you bought is one of a hundred different brands out there that come from overseas and there is no possible way the hobby shop can carry all of those different parts.

Next thing to try is the internet, but there is no web site listed on the box, but you have the brand name so you search on that. You find it after a while and see that you can order parts! Great! The parts only cost $6.00 total, but oh, they come from overseas and the shipping is going to be $20.00, but you want to get it flying again so you bite the bullet and place the order.

Well after you have done this a couple of times you will have spent the same amount as you would have had you purchased a hobby grade helicopter.

This is the problem with those low-priced, off brand, toy grade helicopters, if you can find parts at all they will cost you a fortune to get them because no hobby shop will carry them and the store that sold the helicopter to you has no interest in carrying the parts, they just want the sale of the helicopter!

To get the most enjoyment and long term use out of your helicopter you need to find a brand that is common to the local hobby shops so you can get parts. If there is no local shop nearby then you want to at least be able to get parts without having to pay those exorbitant overseas shipping rates.

For this reason the E-flite BLADE line of helicopters is what I recommend. The exclusive distributor is located in Champaign, IL and carries the full line of replacement parts. This brand is hobby grade and is very durable as well as built using the latest in micro and mini helicopter technology.

If you are looking to get into RC Helicopters you will be glad you took the time to look at BLADE helicopters.

Not All Balance Bikes Are the Same - Learn How to Choose Your Balance Bike

On the surface, choosing a balance bike might seem like an easy task. It's a bike with two wheels and no pedals. How hard could it be to make that decision? Well, once you start investigating the landscape you will soon realize you are dealing with manufacturers that most of us have never heard of, such as Strider Bikes, KaZAM Balance Bikes and Glide Bikes. Most of balance bike companies are 3 to 6 years old and are fairly small but control the majority of the market. My goal in this article is to not tell you what bike to buy but to give you the tools so you can make an informed purchasing decision that's right for your child.

So let's get started.

Balance bikes come in many different sizes and most are adjustable to grow with your child. The first thing you need to do is measure your child's inseam. This way when you start shopping you can immediately determine if the bike you are looking at is sized appropriately. It's never a good thing to buy a bike, have it shipped to you, assemble it, only to find out it's too big for your bike rider. So to avoid this, measure your child's inseam. Now that you have this information, let explore how to use this information.

For the most part, balance bikes are sized by seat height. Seat height is the measurement from the ground to the top of the seat. Most balance bikes have adjustable seats. If it does not, do not buy it. Your child will outgrow it too quickly. Once you have the inseam measurement, here's how to use this information. The goal is for your child to be able to straddle the seat with at least 1" of clearance. So if your child has an inseam of 13", you want to find a bike with a minimum seat height of 12". So the Bikee 1 Bike, which has a minimum seat height of 15", would be too big. However the Strider Bike, with a minimum seat height of 11" would be perfect!

Next topic is to determine if you want a medal bike, wood bike or composite bike. There is no right or wrong answer. Medal bikes look and feel more like a real pedal bike. Most offer features such as a quick release seat and handle bar adjustments, sealed wheel bearings as well as optional brakes. We'll discuss the brake topic in a bit. Some bikes are made out of steal and other aluminum. Aluminum typically will not rust and is lighter; however, steal is cheaper and just because a bike is aluminum does not mean the finished product is lighter, stronger or even better.

Wooden balance bikes tend to be more eco-friendly. Most are made out of renewable marine grade birch wood. They use biodegradable paints and lacquers. Some manufacturers treat wood bikes like a canvas and paint very beautiful designs and pictures, giving the bike a very unique look. Wooden balance bikes tend to have a very retro, nostalgic look and feel to them.

Composite bikes are the strongest but tend to be the most expensive. The main advantage to these bikes is there's very little to rust. So if you live at the beach or high humidity environment, this might be a good choice. Another consideration is if the bike is going to be passed on to another child. The extra money might be a good investment.

The third topic is whether to buy a balance bike with brakes or not. Typically brakes are only offered on medal and composite bikes. So if you are set on a wooded bike, most likely your decision is already made for you. So here's my take on brakes. Balance bikes are about establishing balance and getting your child ready for a pedal bike. Brakes are good to have but for toddlers, 2 - 2 1/2, this might be something to confuse them. Older children might adapt better to brakes. Most children when they first start out will not even use the brakes. They will use them after they get the hang of balancing. There is no research from smart people that give us a definitive answer on whether brakes are a good thing to include or not. It really is a personal choice. One of the pros to buying brakes is it might prolong the use of the bike because the child can safely use it on hills as well as faster gliding.

Lastly, tires are the final decision you need to consider. You really have two choices in the market today. EVA foam tires, airless, or traditional air tires. EVA foam tires are light weight, no maintenance tires. You don't have to worry about flat tires. However, if you are going to be riding a lot on trails or rough ground, they will eventually wear out. Replacements can be expensive because you are replacing the entire wheel. Air tires are heavier and more durable, however, do require maintenance. They are more versatile as far as the riding conditions. They are also cheaper to maintain if you puncture them. In my opinion, you really cannot go wrong with either decision and I would put more effort in deciding on the bike material and whether or not you want brakes. Both types of tires will most likely work just fine for your rider.

I hope this give you some things to think about when deciding which balance bike to buy. Remember the most important thing is sizing the bike. After that, it all comes down to preference. Also remember balance bikes are primarily designed to teach balance so don't get two caught up in the details.

Melissa and Doug Food Groups Toy - A Nourishing Education

In a world where Happy Meals are more popular than apples with natural peanut butter, the Melissa & Doug Food Groups Toy is a fresh blast of nourishing education. The Melissa & Doug 2012 toy-line has introduced the food groups idea to parents because children are obviously becoming confused about what is and isn't good for them.

The traditional once in awhile treats (like chocolate and soda) have become an everyday occurrence -- replacing the importance of a well-balance diet through a kid's childhood. The Melissa & Doug Food Groups Toy is one knick-knack that brings learning back to playtime, for both children and their parents.

Some of the neat ways to utilize this toy as an educational instrument are:

-- The food in each crate is made from high-quality wood -- much more durable than pretend-food of the plastic variety. While some parents will consider these foods unrealistic, no parent wants something so realistic as to provoke their children to try to take a bite. Instead, adults can use these semi-realistic wooden foods to explain proper nutrition to their kids. Go through the crates and ask them what each item is -- followed by a little tidbit of amusing information that will stick with them through their childhood.

-- With the Melissa & Doug Food Groups Toy, kids can plan their usual pretend-restaurant meals around what would be most nutritious for their guests. With 4 crates of bread, meat, dairy products, and fruits & veggies, one of the most entertaining things a child can do is mix-and-match ingredients -- striving for a meal rife in the appropriate amount of protein, carbs, and essential nutrients.

-- Some parents would prefer their children keep their playtime and education separate. With that said, every item in the Melissa & Doug Food Groups Toy is durable -- meaning they can withstand being thrown around while in preparation of a prospective tea party or make-believe mealtime. In this case, kids will still be able to recognize these foods as healthy as they get older -- despite having not used them for learning purposes.

Bottom line: The Melissa & Doug Food Groups toy is a wonderful toy to help educate children in the basics of eating different types of foods for a balanced and nutritious diet. The fact that this toy is a repeated favorite year after year is no accident - parents are quickly learning how this and other fun and educational toys from the M&D company are always good choices.

Playing Cornhole Is Fun for Children and Adults Alike

Games played nowadays have definitely evolved a lot over the years. Video games are more popular than ever because of recent developments in technology. Different gaming consoles or platforms are available in the market and children and adults alike simply can't get enough of the latest games being released by different gaming companies. Days wherein people would need to go out of the house to play games are almost gone because of this. Though modern games are preferred nowadays, old types of games could still be a lot of fun and could also have more benefits. Playing the cornhole game is a great example. Though it is pretty simple and is already an old game, it could still be fun and could be played by everyone. Even those who have gotten used of playing modern games, such as video games, could find it fun especially if it is played with friends and family members.

One of the main advantages of playing this type of game is that it is pretty simple yet fun. All the players need are platforms with hole and all weather cornhole bags filled with corn kernels inside. It could be played on the yard, the lawn, or any other places which has enough space. It could be played one-on-one or it could also be a doubles game. If more there are plenty of people who want to play, they can take turns after each round. Adults could play against children or other adults as well. Rules are not hard to follow as they are not very complicated.

The objective of the game is pretty simple. Each player, positioned a certain distance from the platform, take turn in throwing 4 cornhole or bean bags each towards the platform. The goal is to shoot the bag right inside the hole to score 3 points. If the bag does not go into the hole but remains at the top of the platform, it is scored 1 point. Whichever team gets to score a total of 21 points will be the winner of the game. The platform is usually made of plastic so the materials used for this are not that hard to find. You can make your own cornhole set or you can buy them at various shops.

You do not have to be very skilled to play this game and as long as it is fun, everybody's a winner. This type of game also helps develop social skills and helps families and friends have quality time together. Cornhole is a game that may be old but it is still very enjoyable to play and will surely remain that way for more years to come. It is a good alternative to video games and though it is not that hi-tech, it is still fun. This game is also ideal for special occasions such as children parties, a simple group gathering, or team building events. The next time that you want to play a great game with others, try playing the cornhole game.

A Closer Look At The Nerf Marauder

The Nerf Marauder is a welcome addition to the N-Force range which sits in the melee section of Nerf foam products. Made from special EVA foam and strengthened with an internal plastic rod, which maintains stability and durability. The professional build of the sword ensures its longevity in the hands of kids and parents alike.

Released in 2010, the Nerf Marauder is a step up in foam sword battling. This toy weapon not only increases in length and girth, but also in the quality of the build to form one of the strongest Nerf swords on the market. The statistics and reviews speak for themselves, 40 inches long, that's over 3 feet in length and weighing in at 14.4 ounces. A quick trawl around the internet and speaking to beaming dads will tell you that this sword is the real deal in the fake sword world! Capable of laying down some medieval punishment on your little ones, but is also able to put the fear into you of being broadsided by an 8 year old.

Inspired by the medieval longswords which were wielded two handed, the Nerf Marauder is most suitable to be used as a melee type weapon. It isn't a sword for fast, finesse strikes, this is a sword to break through defences by sheer power and weight alone. In this respect, smaller children who do need to use both hands, should be educated that this is the historically accurate way to use the blade!

Due to the wide blade this sword also functions well defensively, as it can block incoming projectiles from Nerf guns and darts and while maybe slower to move around, the stability of the sword also helps to effectively block other sword attacks.

The size of the sword might limit the fighting style for younger children, but adults and big kids should have no problems wielding this sword one handed and indeed could even wield two at once just like the Knights of old.

Another benefit of this sword and the Nerf N-Force range in general is the pairing up of additional items. The tactical vest can be used to sheath the Marauder and this allows you to pull the blade from behind your back and hoist it aloft, just like Adam would do as he transformed into He-Man! The sword comes complete with a blade guard and is available in two colours, black with either red or yellow.

This is a superb Nerf sword, but parents should be aware that although a toy, the added weight and sturdiness of the weapon does mean that unguarded attacks could cause some pain and light bruising. All the more reason to learn how to block effectively!

Remote Control Helicopter: Do's and Don'ts

Once you have bought your RC helicopter and are ready to start experiencing all the joys of flying it, you will first have to take a bit more time off to learn the do's and don'ts. There are so many mistakes to be made flying these model planes. You do not want to end up damaging your considerable investment, other people's property or hurting yourself. This articles touches on some do's and don'ts that if you religiously follow, you should be able to become an expert at handling your RC chopper.

• Learn the switches and start off right - Before you even switch on your remote control helicopter, you have to first learn the controls. Take a look at the instruction manual and know which switch does what before you hit the start button. This will keep you from breaking your aircraft on your first go at it. After you have learnt what each of the switches does, the next thing that is important is knowing in which positions they each should be when you start your engine. Different models will require different starting positions. One common thing however is that the best way to start is by having all the switches in the same direction. Let them all point up or let them all point down.

• Check up before take-off - When you get into your car you will always make sure that everything is in order before you start it and drive away. This is the same for your remote control helicopter. One of the most important things to verify is that all the control screws are properly functional. You may have to tighten them or loosen them before you take off. The screws that you have to pay special attention to are the ones that control the tail. They are usually tightening or loosening more often than the others as they steer the bird.

• Keep calm and do an inventory when you crash - Especially for beginners, crashing your remote control helicopter is something that is bound to happen. For some people it will happen several times before they get the hang of things. A lot of people are so heart broken when they crash that they do not bother to slowly inspect the craft and the crash area. You have to make sure that you still have all the pieces of your craft before flying off again. Lack of being meticulous can prove to be very expensive when you lose a piece.

• Learn the winds - flying a remote control helicopter when there is a wind blowing is not such an easy affair in the beginning. The first thing that you want to do is determine how the wind is blowing. You will then have to decide whether you intend to fly with the wind or against it as they each require different maneuvering. You also need to learn how much power you will need. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that when they are flying in the same direction as the wind they require less power but this is not true.

Benefiting From Your Toy Rocket Collection

The toy rocket was one of the most popular toys among kids in the 50's and 60's. This was not surprising at all as that part of the century saw the hype of space travel and the advent of high technology warfare. Of course, kids all over the world followed the trend at that time. Toy rockets can be described as one of the more complicated types of toys because you have to build them from scratch. Of course, there are those that don't need building, but we're talking about the rockets for the big boys. When it comes to rocket toys, part of the fun is building the rocket itself.

There are many benefits in building your own toy rocket. For one, toy rockets help you improve your mechanical skills. But the most important thing that happens when you build your own rocket is you spend time with your loved ones as they help you finish the rocket. Building your own rocket is definitely better than just buying a pre-built rocket. Here are some advantages you get from building your own:

• Better appreciation for your toy - Building your own rocket will make you appreciate it more since your hard work was put into building it.

• Enhanced logic - Not everyone can build a rocket as it can be very complicated. This is especially true for more high-tech rockets. Building one will definitely develop your logic and intellect, which in turn, will be useful in practical living.

• Enhanced relationships - Since assembling toy rockets isn't easy, asking a friend or family member to help is encouraged. Building a rocket may take hours, depending on the rocket's design. This means you'll have more fun bonding time with your friend or family member. This act can also help you develop your social skills.

Another fun thing to do with toy rockets is to collect them. As mentioned above, these toys have many variants. The best types are the ones modeled after real rockets. These are a bit expensive, but are well worth the money since they are all well made. The great thing about these types of rocket collections is they can also make you money in the future. You see, these types of rockets are collectibles, meaning their value increases over time; the rarer they get, the more they will cost. Owning a collectible rocket is like having a good investment.

Having a vintage rocket toy collection can make you a lot of money; as long as you take care of your collection properly. Do your best to keep your toy rockets in good condition. To know how much your collectible currently costs, have it appraised by another toy collector. You may also go online and see how much it is currently selling for at online auctions.

To learn more about collecting toy rockets and making money from them in the future, look for a good resource, like an e-book, that covers everything about the hobby, from A to Z. Once you know everything about collecting toy rockets, profiting from them will be easy. Just make sure to take care of your collections, keeping them as fresh as you can. As long as your toy rocket is in good condition, you won't have any problem making money from them in the future.

How To Buy Toys For Your Children

Children's toys can be purchased from a plethora of different locations, some high street and other online. Shopping on the internet is now an activity which is quite widespread because it is more accessible nowadays (more people have fast internet connections) and it is more secure (technological improvements). There is also much less of a stigma attached to internet fraud as there used to be. In other words, people in general nowadays have much more trust in shopping online. But there are lots of people, me included, who do love to shop in the high street and at shopping centres such as Meadowhall in Sheffield.

Buying toys and games at any time of the year can be a difficult task for you as a parent. Your child or children will want the precise toys that they are interested in and probably won't settle for anything else. They may want toys and/or games that they have seen advertised on banner advertisations whilst walking through town with you on a busy Saturday morning. They may have seen specific toys and/or games advertised on TV advertisements which have been shown between their favourite cartoon shows. Children generally want toys based upon different cartoon characters that they are familiar with from the children's book that you read them and their favourite movies.

It is one of your jobs as a parent to shop for and purchase the kinds of creative learning toys and games that they will love to play with. Research shows that some of the very best learning takes place when children are enjoying playtime. Research also shows that children love to be challenged, so bear this in mind when selecting the different toys and games that are available to your child or children during playtime. It's always a great idea to purchase a selection of different toys and games for this purpose.

So where should you buy toys from? Well, you will already know from experience that you can pick up a wide range of different types of creative learning children's toys and games both in the high street and from major retail shopping centres. Whilst these brick and mortars stores are the most obvious choices, many parents are now turning to online stores to carry out the bulk of there children's toy purchases. This can a particularly stress free alternative to shopping at brick and mortar outlets, especially during the busy run-up to Christmas time when the high street shops and shopping centres are particularly busy.

Some parents purchase second-hand or used children's toys and games which can be OK as long as they are in good condition. This depends on your individual point-of-view and your budget. Perhaps you think it's better to purchase a few less toys which are brand new rather than a few extra toys which are second hand. The choice is yours and this is a decision that only you can make. I personally only purchase brand new toys and games for my children but that's just me. I do purchase used items for myself though.

Cheapest Remote Control Helicopter

There is no denying that one trend that has really exploded nowadays for both adults and kids is spending the day flying an RC helicopter in a nice location. It is fun that knows no end and is no longer as expensive as it used to be back in the day. Today, all you need to do is invest wisely in the right model and you can have months if not years of fun. Due to the fact that cheap is a relative word when it comes to buying these toy birds, this article will tell you how to go about getting the cheapest of the niche that you need.

Consider electric vs. gas powered types carefully - In this case this applies to those who know the type of flying that they want to do. Flying can be beginner or professional, long range or short range and complex or simple maneuvering. Once you have determined which category of flying you want to fall in, you then have the choice of deciding between an electric powered vs. a gas engine remote control helicopter. The electric models are the cheapest way to go as they do not need constant refueling or expensive maintenance.

Pick assembly types over ready to fly types - Whether you have decided to go for an electric or a nitro/gas powered model, you yet again have the option of deciding whether to assemble the model yourself or buy it ready to fly. If you intend to get the cheaper option for the desired model of remote control helicopter, it is always a bargain to assemble it by yourself. Sure, this will require patience and a little bit of skill depending on the complexity of the model but you will save more money. The ready to fly types always cost a bit more as you just whip them out of the box and you are in business. The manufacturer had to go an extra step to pay for its assembly.

Pick refurbished over new - Refurbished items will always be cheaper than buying a new item. Refurbishing requires a firm/company buys the item and then carries out any major repairs on it to return it to the best condition possible. Some of these items are usually as good as new but had one tiny flaw that was easily resolved. As much as these items can be practically new, they cannot be sold as new as this is illegal. Picking a refurbished remote control helicopter will cost you much less.

Pick seller wisely - Taking your time to find the right seller is very important when you want to save money on any purchase. Deciding to buy a remote control helicopter can be an exciting affair but rushing into it will make you spend much more than you otherwise would have. Look for a seller by considering the following criteria:

* Guarantees and warranties offer

* Any after sales service

* Condition of item being sold

* Any delivery costs to be incurred

* Price - Compare his price to the other sellers in your potential list.

So what better time to buy toy food than the summer time. Your children can be outside or in the house in their pretend kitchen for hours cooking with their food. Rather it's baking up some yummy cookies or setting the table with sushi. In the play food world there is everything you could want.

As a mom, I find that playing while learning is vital I sit and watched my children be creative in their individual unique ways. I teach my 3 year old and 2 year old using different techniques. The pieces that come with Melissa and Doug food are perfect for their motor skills, learning colors, learning shapes, and being creative. These sets can be played with in so many ways. Play food comes with so many pieces that they can and will hold your children's attention for hours!

There are so many different play food brands out there so why should you choose Melissa and Doug? I will give you three reasons that I believe will change your mind. These options are my own that I have seen while my kids play with there toys.

1. Melissa and Doug play food and food sets are made out of wood. In my option you can't beat wood. It's less likely to break, chip, crack, less of a chocking hazard than plastic, and it will last a lot longer than toys made out of other materials than wood. So you can't beat toys made out of wood especially food toys. We have a lot of toys made out of plastic and all they do is break. On the other hand all of our wood toys we have, have yet to break. So yes up front you my pay a little more but in the end it's worth the money because you have the toy a lot longer.

2. The attention to detail. Melissa and Doug Company pays close attentions to the detail of their play food. They don't just make fake food there make food that looks like the real thing. This is important to our children because it's teaching them while they play what the food they are going to eat and see in the store is really going to look like. Also the Melissa and Doug food is very close to the real size so no more over large strawberries and oranges.

3. They can be used for many generations. When you buy Melissa and Doug Food you are buying quality. This means your children today will enjoy the toy and then there children will also enjoy the same toys. To me this is so important because, we live in such a through a way society so the more you can reuse thing the better.

Melissa and Doug Shopping Cart!

The Melissa and Doug shopping cart is a great way to get your kids excited about going the grocery store with you. They will feel like a little shopper themselves. Rather it's helping you pick out the groceries or helping you bag them will truly enjoy the experience of shopping with their own shopping cart. When your child gets to take their own shopping cart to the store they will feel like they want to be a part. They feel like they want to be a part because they are a part. I have a three year old daughter who loves to go shopping with me now thanks to the wonderful shopping car. It makes my shopping trips much more enjoyably now knowing how much fun my daughter is having as well. In my option there are three great things about this Melissa and Doug shopping cart...

1. Educational To Your Child!

Your child will get to go around with you while you shop and you can show them how by buy groceries. Why you pick out the food you do and how you check for the pricing between the different products. In the process of shopping with you they will learn the value of money. Seeing how you purchase the food they eat everyday I feel so is educational to our children. My three year old daughter can all ready pick out a lot of the food we buy and a week to week basses. I feel that while shopping with our children they are learning a value that the will use for the rest of there lives.

2. Communication Skills!

Each time we go shopping at least three or four other shoppers make comments on how much she is learning from the experience and what a great opportunity it is. They also will stop and interact with her and tell her what an amazing job she is doing. As a mother, I see this interaction with other shoppers helps build her confidence and her communication skills. Here are some of the comments she has gotten while shopping. One customer even made the comment "by the age of thirteen she would be a power coupon saver." They also all comment on how realistic the Melissa and Doug shopping cart looks. One man said "she could do as much damage to my car as a big shopping cart." The interaction with others while shopping is so important. Our children will learn to be courteous, help others, and respect of what in the store.

2. Imagination Play

There is more to the shopping cart than just taking it to the store with you. Your child can also use it around the house for pretend play. My daughter has a play kitchen that she loves to use it in. Then my son will use it for bringing in the fire wood. So cute to watch the same product being used in such different ways. Your child will find the perfect way to use it around your home. They will play pretend with it for hours. Just watch and see what your child comes up with.

Another plus to this Melissa and Doug all metal shopping cart is it can be used for many generations to come. It's not going to break on you. I believe this is a positive aspect because we live in such a through away society. Now that you know about the Melissa and Doug shopping cart and how much it will impact your child's life.

Toys For Children

Children love toys. Toys are specifically designed with a child's development in mind. Toys for children are specifically aimed at helping a child to learn to their full potential whilst having fun at the same time.

As a child, I loved to play with my toys. I certainly could not wait until it was playtime because I knew that was when I could get my LEGOs out and start to explore my imagination and slip off into another world. Daydreaming was a very important part of my childhood. I would make believe that I was one of the knights in my LEGO set and that my job was to protect the castle. I absolutely loved to play with all of my toys but my LEGO set was certainly one of my favourites. I would always add new LEGO sets onto all of my Christmas lists which my mum and dad would send off to Santa. To be honest, I would always get new sets and absolutely adored the feeling I got when I unwrapped my Christmas presents and discovered a mixture of both presents I had put on my Christmas list and even a few surprises that I hadn't even thought of. Birthday presents were the same, at least one LEGO set which I would play with the most.

These days, now I am older and a dad myself I encourage my children to play with a wide range of different types of creative learning toys. They have played with my old LEGO sets and love them. Sometimes they like to draw, sometimes they paint, play with Play-Doh and their dolls. They love to play with all of their toys and games. Learning is certainly taking place during playtime and by simply interacting with your children whilst they are playing, you can help to inspire their imaginations, teach them about the toys that they are playing with and generally help them to learn more about the world. I bought some Memory Cards for my children which is basically just like a game of Snap that you would play with playing cards but with characters from their favourite TV shows. The cartoon characters are instantly recognisable which always helps to engage them with the Memory Cards. I tend to split their playtime between different types of toys and games. Using this technique I can rest assured that their interest levels are always high and they are never bored of playing with the same old toys again and again. They will always choose favourite toys and this is natural but it is always good to mix up the toys that they play with so that learning is holistic.

Buying The Best Wooden Building Blocks For The 6-8 Year Old Child

Boys and girls, from 6-8 years old, love construction toys of any kind. Wooden blocks are typically in their classroom environment and are a great toy for them to have at home too. For the 6-8 year old child, purchase a block set that fits the type of block play that is common for this age group. If you get a set that is too small, or doesn't have the variety of shapes they enjoy, they may not get the benefits that you would hope from a set of wooden blocks.

How will the 6-8 year old child play with a set of wooden blocks?

At this age their fine-motor skills, and hand-eye coordination are improving so they build more elaborate, detailed structures from their building blocks. They are also learning to plan ahead and visualize how to build their ideas in a series of steps. They enjoy blocks in a variety of sizes, lengths, and varied shapes to be able to build to the level they are able to imagine. They enjoy cooperative play in groups and so need a good amount of wooden building blocks to be able to share. They cooperate as a group to come up with an idea, and build the separate parts of that structure together. They utilize other toys in their block play creating elaborate towns, forts, castles etc. They will build up a super structure and knock it down with a Nerf gun or a ball. They are mastering the ability to make a stable tower or structure, and now work on problem solving skills-how to make a better structure, a more elaborate structure, a bigger, better, "cooler" structure than they have previously built. They are also beginning to be competitive in their block play. They enjoy contests with their friends to see who can build the tallest block tower. They will also compete against themselves, seeing if they can "best" their last creation.

How many blocks are appropriate for the 6-8 year old child?

Children of this age will do well with 80-120 blocks. They may become frustrated with smaller sets that won't let them build their fantastic ideas. They do enjoy playing in groups, so consider a larger set with more blocks for group play. Also they will usually want more blocks as they get older so consider adding to their set later or buying a wooden block set that will grow with them.

What kinds of shapes and sizes of blocks are important for this age?

They like to build large structures, so they need lots of blocks, in a variety of sizes and lengths. They love unique shapes to add the creative finishing touches to their buildings. It is important to have both large and small blocks in square and rectangle shapes. Large blocks are great for structure and small blocks can add variety like making a round or curved building. Children of this age will want shapes like triangles, wedges, arches, and rounded shapes.

What type of wood is best for this age?

Blocks can be made from a soft or a hard wood. Children will enjoy either. Children of this age will be hard on blocks, building large structures and crashing them down. So hard wood products are beneficial because they are more durable. They can be very pricey though, so choose your set wisely. There are many types of hard woods and the price range will vary according to the species of wood. Children of this age don't really need or want the colored blocks. They are happy with plain, natural wood. If the blocks are painted or dyed make sure they are tested to be safe for children.

How will you clean up and store the blocks?

A group of 6-8 year old children will spread a set of blocks out all over a room in no time. They are pretty cooperative when clean up time comes and are capable of organizing blocks in a certain order in a crate or box. They may even enjoy ordering them this way. But it is also nice to be able to quickly put them in a bucket, box of bin on a shelf.

A set of wooden building blocks is a great toy for the 6-8 year old child. Blocks are an educational toy that can provide hours of creative fun. They are durable and will last for years. They make a great investment for any family.

Wooden Building Blocks For Children - Grandparents Joining The Fun Of Block Play

Grandparents frequently purchase sets of wooden blocks. What are some reasons that they would be buyers for this product?

Could it be because they have fond memories of playing with building blocks themselves as children? Maybe it's because they don't relate to the "high-tech" toys of today? Do they realize the educational benefits of a set of building blocks? Maybe it's because they see that natural wooden blocks are a toy that will last, won't need new batteries and will be played with over and over again? Or maybe it's just because it's really grandpa who wants to play with them! Consider this comment from one grandpa, "The blocks are loads of fun and the grandson likes them too!"

Grandparents not only buy wooden block sets as a gift for their grandchildren, but often purchase a set for their own home. They may get them for a family vacation home, beach house or cabin where the family would gather.

Grandparents are drawn to toys they remember well. Years ago wooden building blocks were in every home. Grandparents often kept the block sets they had as a child and then passed on to their own children. Now they are wanting to share the joy of playing with this traditional toy with their grandchildren. Grandpa may not be able to do well at video games or "Angry Birds", but he will enjoy spending time with the grandchildren making a creative town, castle or fort together. If not down on the floor with them, Grandma will certainly love seeing the joy that comes to her grandchild as he or she learns to build a tower, knock it down, and then begins again. Grandparents have found this to be a great way to bond with their grandchildren, sharing something they enjoyed as a child.

Grandpa is often the kind who can fix or build anything. Our older generation grew up learning these skills. Maybe that all started with a childhood of building and playing with simple toys like wooden blocks that fostered creativity and taught them how to figure out how things work. Grandparents can see that we could learn a thing or two by getting back to some basic creative toys, like wooden blocks.

Grandparents want to invest in toys that will be appreciated, won't be broken quickly or abandoned when batteries run out. Wooden blocks are durable and will be used over and over again in new and creative ways. Grandparents know that a set of building blocks, kept at their own home will become a favorite toy. The one that the grand kids want to play with each time they visit.

Wooden blocks are a gift that many grandparents are buying, not only for their grandchildren, but also for their own home. They are finding it can be a great way to connect with the younger generation.

Electronic Remote Control Helicopters

In this day and age, owning your own electric remote control helicopters is easy and affordable. Due to improved battery, motor and micro electronics technology, electric helicopters are the most exponentially growing niche in the remote control helicopter industry. These birds come in different sizes of between 7 - 80 inches. The most popular hobby grade single rotor collective pitch models are the 400 class/size electrics. They are large enough to be a good trainer yet small enough to be relatively easy to purchase, operate and repair.

The design of single rotor collective pitch versions is similar to that of nitro or gas. The controls you are going to use and the assembly process are exactly the same. Flying the electric remote control helicopters can be expensive if you want to make back to back flights as you will need several battery packs. However you will never have to buy fuel again and in the long run it is cheaper to maintain an electric motor than a nitro-powered one.

As a beginner, it is best to start off with a mini copter as they are smaller, less expensive and durable. This will allow you to perfect your skills before moving onto more advanced variations. A simple 2 channel bird will fly up left and right while a 3 channel mini one will make it possible for you to fly up, left/right, forward/backwards.

If you are more serious and wish to make this a hobby, then try out the 4 channel coaxial helicopter. Coaxial models, as the name suggests, come with dual rotors with each rotating in opposite directions. This counteracts the force between the two cables thus making for a more stable and consistent flight even by someone with no prior experience. Hovering and slow forward flight is achieved though it has its limits when it comes to flight performance and aerobatic maneuvers. Basically these are out of the question. Coaxial models have the advantage of being easy to master.

Once you have mastered the coaxial type, you can move up to the fixed pitch electric remote control helicopters. These are just like any other radio control models but the difference is that they do not have collective pitch controls to the main rotor. Collective pitch is what controls the altitude on a real helicopter by changing the pitch angle of the main blades. The Fixed pitch versions rely on rotor speed to control altitude.

Next in line are the collective pitch remote control helicopters. This is more expensive than an FP version and does require some time to master. You will see that with lots of practice this type of aircraft can do some very great tricks in the air.

The advantage of the electric remote control helicopters is that they don't create a mess like nitro engines. This means they can be used indoors. The most important thing to remember is that a single rotor chopper is not a toy. Spinning rotor blades can cause a lot of damage to yourself or those around you.

To get the best value for your money, do some research and shop around at your local hobby stores and online. The range and variety means that there is an electric model for almost every budget and flying need.

What's New in Electric Radio Control Helicopters and Cars?

What is so great about electric? The "no fuss" play value. No fighting with tuning your engines or buying fuel. Charge the battery-and go! And even the youngsters can get into it with no problem. Most radio control nowadays is ready to run. For those enthusiasts who want to build there a still kits around.

Electric airplanes can be flown just about anyplace and... there are replacement wings, tails, etc for your plane. If you do not feel like finding a big park there are now backyard airplanes. Small and easy to fly! Buy a trainer plane to begin with. Trainers are made of hard Styrofoam and have wings on the top of the plane to make it stable and catch the wind. Once you feel comfortable flying your trainer plane you can go onto low wing or bi-planes.

Beginners, intermediate, and advanced helicopters are easy to find in electric. Even children as young as eight years old can fly a trainer helicopter with little practice. You can start with a small one for only indoors or a larger one to fly outdoors and indoors. Make sure you buy the hobby quality which have better electronics and have parts availability.

The most popular item for youngsters 6 and up is the electric cars. It is suggested to get an offroad truck for a youngster to take in the grass and dirt and beat the cars up without worry.

To begin the youngster in the radio control cars it is suggested to buy a truck with a brushed motor which will run about 30mph. Some of the brands even have a step down switch on the controller to bring the speed down to about 20mph so the younger child can get used to running the car.

When he/she gets bored with 30mph change to a brushless motor and go up to about 50mph. A brushless motor has magnets inside instead of brushes. No wear and much faster.

There are trucks and buggies that will come with brushless motors already installed. And the new lines of batteries of nickel metal hydride and li-po batteries makes for more run time and more speed

For those interested in racing nowadays there is also onroad, short course and even drift cars.

Try the new electrics and you will have tons of fun!

If you buy hobby quality radio control you can find parts and even upgrades in a hobby store or on a reputable hobby store website.

How to Choose a Puzzle at the Right Difficulty Level for Your Child

Jigsaw puzzles and other childrens wooden toys can be excellent tools for developing their problem solving skills and improving their brain function. When young children and toddlers are playing with these childrens wooden toys they are having fun while at the same time they are exercising their cognitive thinking skills by figuring out how the pieces fit together.

However, when you are buying childrens wooden toys such as puzzles for your children, it is important to choose a puzzle which is at the right difficultly level. If the puzzle is too easy, your child will quickly become bored and will not be challenged to improve their skills. If the puzzle is too difficult, your child will become frustrated and will not have the satisfying feeling of accomplishing it.

Here are some hints for determining a puzzle's difficulty level:

What is the Recommended Age Range on the Box?

Often when buying childrens wooden toys you will notice that there is a recommended age range on the box, such as "Ages 3-5" or "Ages 10 and Up". This is a good guideline to get you started but it is important to remember that these are just average guidelines. Some children are more advanced than others and your 6 year old might be advanced enough to complete a puzzle designed for a 10 year old. You know your child best and so you will be able to tell if the age guidelines apply to them or not.

How Many Pieces Does it Have?

Take a look at how many pieces the jigsaw puzzle contains to get a general idea of the difficulty level. Generally, the more pieces the puzzle has the more challenging it will be. A puzzle with less than 10 large pieces will be very easy for a small toddler, whereas a jigsaw with 60 or 100 pieces will be more suitable to an older adolescent or teenager.

What is the Subject Matter?

When you are shopping for puzzles and other childrens wooden toys, another factor to consider is the subject matter. Puzzles are more difficult when they have an image which is very uniform throughout. For example, a puzzle with an image of ocean waves or leaves on a forest floor would be very difficult because the colour of the puzzle pieces does not give any hint as to where to place it. If you want a simpler puzzle, choose one with a recognizable image that has a lot of distinctly different areas within it.

These are just a few things to consider when determining whether or not a jigsaw puzzle is at the right difficulty level to offer your child an educationally stimulating challenge.

A G Scale Train Set Is Such Fun!

Have you ever seen the eyes of a small child light up when they watch a sibling or friend get a train set as a gift? They would like to play with it too but cannot because they are too young.

Well, there may be a possibility for toddlers to play with smaller scale train sets too under supervision, of course, because the components do come apart, but on the whole, they are big enough not to be able to put in the mouth.

There are train sets on the market that the young ones can also enjoy. A G gauge or G scale model train would be the perfect choice.

The G scale model train is also a wonderful toy if you are searching for a train to install around your Christmas tree or outside in the garden, but it does require a bit of space.

This toy railway train seldom comes off the track which is why it is probably better for younger children. However, if there is a derailment, the track is big enough at 45mm that a child can put a car back on it with very little problem.

The track is also sturdy enough that it will not be damaged if it is stepped on or thrown about. These large scale train sets are meant for the rough way that a lot of younger kids treat their toys.

G scale model train are complete ready-to-run 1/29 scale and usually come with two sizes of straight and curved track although without as many accessories as most of the other scales.

However, by shopping around one may find quite a variety of engines, cabooses, box and passenger cars to fulfill their needs. There are also landscaping, tunnels, lights, and other items that can be purchased to go with this kind of train set.

The carriages come in various sizes. The average size is about 17 inches long by 4 inches wide by 6 inches high, although some may be a little shorter or a little longer. The locomotive is usually around 27 inches long.

These model train sets often have a very detailed engine with an operating headlight, a whistle and the ability to blow steam and smoke. They may also be models of real or mythical trains like the ones used in Santa Fe or the North Pole.

Many of the carriages and track are made from brass. This is so they will hold up to bad weather conditions and rough treatment from children. Brass also makes for easy polishing.

Power is supplied by rechargeable battery, transformer, or DCC. An ordinary, non rechargeable battery or DCC can become fairly expensive to run. If you decide on the transformer be sure that it is powerful enough to run the train that you purchase and that it is waterproof.

The G scale train set normally comes in a box and finished to be fitted together once it is opened. Other pieces may be bought to make the set as you want it.

Storage might become somewhat difficult if you opt to set this up in your yard. If you have a shed large enough, it could be slid in there without having to take it to pieces. Big totes are a safe way to transport a train of this size.

There are numerous manufactures on the market for this type of train set and most will offer a few accessories that can go with their train set. Prices vary according to the amount of track, the locomotive, the tender, the amount of rolling stock and the manufacturer.

Searching the web is a handy method of seeing what every manufacturer has to offer and the prices they are asking, before going to the mall to see what is available locally as train sets are back in vogue big time, if they ever were not. Children have always loved model train sets.

Many of the larger chain stores carry the G scale train set as do a few of the smaller model stores too. A train of this size would keep any child of any age happy for hours. It would be a learning experience with the possibility of becoming a life-long hobby for some.

If you do then they will likely become bored of this particular type of activity and not do it when they get older because they've done it too much and, therefore, they've become bored of it.
