A Closer Look At The Nerf Marauder

The Nerf Marauder is a welcome addition to the N-Force range which sits in the melee section of Nerf foam products. Made from special EVA foam and strengthened with an internal plastic rod, which maintains stability and durability. The professional build of the sword ensures its longevity in the hands of kids and parents alike.

Released in 2010, the Nerf Marauder is a step up in foam sword battling. This toy weapon not only increases in length and girth, but also in the quality of the build to form one of the strongest Nerf swords on the market. The statistics and reviews speak for themselves, 40 inches long, that's over 3 feet in length and weighing in at 14.4 ounces. A quick trawl around the internet and speaking to beaming dads will tell you that this sword is the real deal in the fake sword world! Capable of laying down some medieval punishment on your little ones, but is also able to put the fear into you of being broadsided by an 8 year old.

Inspired by the medieval longswords which were wielded two handed, the Nerf Marauder is most suitable to be used as a melee type weapon. It isn't a sword for fast, finesse strikes, this is a sword to break through defences by sheer power and weight alone. In this respect, smaller children who do need to use both hands, should be educated that this is the historically accurate way to use the blade!

Due to the wide blade this sword also functions well defensively, as it can block incoming projectiles from Nerf guns and darts and while maybe slower to move around, the stability of the sword also helps to effectively block other sword attacks.

The size of the sword might limit the fighting style for younger children, but adults and big kids should have no problems wielding this sword one handed and indeed could even wield two at once just like the Knights of old.

Another benefit of this sword and the Nerf N-Force range in general is the pairing up of additional items. The tactical vest can be used to sheath the Marauder and this allows you to pull the blade from behind your back and hoist it aloft, just like Adam would do as he transformed into He-Man! The sword comes complete with a blade guard and is available in two colours, black with either red or yellow.

This is a superb Nerf sword, but parents should be aware that although a toy, the added weight and sturdiness of the weapon does mean that unguarded attacks could cause some pain and light bruising. All the more reason to learn how to block effectively!
